The Race That Stops A Nation

On the first Tuesday in November in Australia the nation stops for the running of the Melbourne Cup. It is Australia’s most prestigious thoroughbred horse race for three-year-olds and over. It is the richest ‘two-mile’ handicap in the world and one of the richest turf races.

Such a significant day on the sporting calendar a public holiday is given to those of us lucky enough to live in the greater Melbourne area so we have shut shop today, organised our staff Melbourne cup-sweep and put the Bollinger on ice ready to indulge in ‘Spring Racing’ fever all day today with eyes peeled to the track for around 3pm for the running of the Melbourne Cup.

The nation literally stops at 3pm where you’ll find most of us cheering for our horses around a TV, radio, live streaming or out at Flemington race track watching live. Hope you tip a winner!

Giddyup we’ll see you tomorrow.
