This March as part of L’OREAL’s Melbourne Fashion Festival, City of Melbourne and Dulux have returned to present their second Windows by Design event. The event comprises of filling the CBD retailers with ephemeral galleries to explore and discover. This year, twelve of Melbourne’s most beloved retailers have collaborated with fifteen creatives to transform their city shop fronts into aesthetic imaginings. The result is a visual treasure hunt for everyone to enjoy. For those interested in fashion or retail visual merchandising, this is a unique opportunity to rediscover Melbourne’s retail heartland as the Festival’s Windows by Design project transforms the city into a stylish landscape of art-inspired installations.
Drawing on Dulux’s seasonal colour ranges, iconic Melbourne retailers have collaborated with leading Australian creatives to sculpt, paint and curate Melbourne’s most fashionable windows. Before the unveiling of the windows to the media last week LMFF released a few behind the scenes shots from the installation from Ombra.
Since late 2012, the team at Flock Agency have been casting their creative eye over city windows and selecting some of Melbourne’s cutting edge artists to take up residence in March. In this annual feast for your eyes, you will be treated to a feathered installation at Ombra with lace cobweb details from Gwendolynne + Richard Nylon to a light fantastic installation at Alpha60 from Andy Mutton for Lightning Lighting.
Highlighting our 2013 focus on social curation, the Festival has collaborated with Dulux to showcase the hottest colours on the catwalk and in your home. Wander through the windows and discover the colour trends for 2013 and ensure that you, and your home, are dressed in the colours of this season.
