Occasionally we come across a piece of packaging design that is so rich and evocative in its brand story telling that we’re knocked off our perch. From start to finish the design of this packaging for El Mil del Poaig Spanish Olive Oil is stunning.
Created by Spanish designers CuldeSac, the packaging experience begins with a small wooden crate, sealed with a wax tie to leave the customer in no doubt as to the quality of the product.
Upon opening the crate, the form of the olive oil bottle continues to surprise and delight, looking more like a contemporary piece of furniture design than a functional bottle. This gem of a piece of brand design is definitely destined to be displayed on the smartest kitchen counters for years, not buried at the back of the pantry.
If you’d like to create a little packaging magic for your own products, why not give us a call, we’d love to help you out.

Certainly up there with the best, normally this kind of thing the reserve of perfume or spirits or even just concept packaging. It really demonstrates the value the producers put on their olive oil and at €130+ a bottle it deserves it.
I agree Derek, for some products the packaging design plays a very active role in positioning the brand as ultra premium. €130 might be expensive for a bottle of oil, but it’s great value for a piece of artwork.
Remember that good ‘ol tagline “oils aint oils”? This oil aint no ordinary oil, what a beautiful piece of packaging design and brand communication – even the crate is worth keeping, for what I don’t know but I’d certainly keep it!
Smacks of quality – the ultimate gift!
Domma, I like your analogy – when you look at it in it’s purest form – visually speaking – oils are all the same – that is until you wrap some brilliant packaging design around it.
Reg, Imagine transforming a bottle of Olive oil into a valued gift. makes you start to wonder what other product could gain gift status with the right vision for their packaging design.
