The Magnetic Warmth of a Strong Brand Proposition.
I came across this pic today and it gave me pause to reflect on the nature of dogs, people and markets.
We as customers are not too different from these lazy mutts sunning themselves on a Sunday morning. In many ways, humans are not so complex. There are many behaviors, rituals and habits that we enjoy sharing – deep down most of us are happy to be part of a tribe of PLOs (people like ourselves).
From a brand builders perspective, once we develop a product or service proposition that someone loves – and I mean really loves because it solves a desperate and compelling need or desire – there’s a great chance a bunch of other folk are going to love it to.
That all sounds easy, but those of us who spend our lives creating, managing and marketing brands know it’s no simple thing. But the challenge here is to keep inventing, innovating, and transforming our products and services until we settle on the right formula – the shaft of warm sunlight that will draw all the dogs in our neighborhood to slumber on our lounge room floor.
