
100 Million Viewers Can’t be Wrong
Attending the Trendwatching conference in Sydney a couple of weeks back they opened with this clip from South Korea that’s going seriously viral. Sure, the main thing is I just loooove this clip and wanted to share it, but then isn’t that the absolute definition of a successful viral video?
On my first view a week ago this clip had 40 million views, today it has zipped past 110 million – in fact 113,500,490 views (but who’s quibbling over the odd 3,500,000). These sort of numbers match a global TVC campaign, but the big difference here is that these views are people choosing to engage, not begrudgingly watching as the price they pay for free to air TV. The immense popularity of the clip has seen it slip into the mainstream with the track being picked-up on free to air TV and radio throughout Asia, the US, and Europe.
