Engaging Event Communications Design
The Entrepreneurs Organisation (EO) is a global business organisation of around 8,000 owners of fast growth businesses. The Melbourne chapter runs a number of learning and social events each year for their members. When EO Melbourne held a family Easter event we were engaged to design the invitation and provide creative direction in order to make this a highly anticipated, highly attended and highly memorable event.

Reducing Puma’s Environmental Paw Print – A Great Piece of Brand Design
Shoe brand Puma will be phasing-out its plastic shopping bags in favour of these ‘clever little shopper’ bags. The ‘clever little shopper’ is a 100% biodegradable carrier bag composed entirely of corn starch. The bag decomposes naturally within a three-month period, or can be dissolved in water in about three minutes.
the same biodegradable material will also be used for apparel bags in the company’s ‘clever little packaging’ packaging design initiative.
A Red Hot Brand Experience.
In this spin-out of life imitating brand, Hot Wheels have put their brand all over the world record truck jump, creating a life-sized Hot Wheels jump track and capturing the wonderment of childhood play for a huge audience of grown-ups and kids alike. Whilst not all brands have the budget to sponsor world record attempts (although this not necessarily as expensive as you may think), for many brands, identifying the ‘wonderment connection’ they have with their customers is the first step to creating their own, unique, differentiating brand gesture. (check the clip of the Hot Wheels brand gesture after the jump)
Creating Uniquely Evocative Brand Packaging Design
Recently I cam across this beautiful wine packaging design; ‘UNA‘ wine bottles designed by cibic workshop to mark the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. What struck me was the power of creating a different packaging form when virtually the entire industry uses the same shaped bottles.
When Brand Design’s Baked-In
Designed to be Different
The very best examples of brands that touch the soul are often those with the differentiating design ‘baked-in’. Too often design is seen as the bit that wraps around the (often identical) finished product. I spotted these beautiful Moonflower soaps. Moonflower is a high-end bath and body line from the US and looks like it has beautiful design sown-in to its very DNA.
World Famous Brand Design
A while back Alexia Soyeux from Création Conseil Dessert in Paris got in touch to tell us how much she looooved our packaging design for Gelati Sky and to see if we could hook her up with some Gelati for her upcoming gourmet food event. So we did. The event took place in Paris last Monday and by all accounts Gelati Sky stole the show.
After the event Alexia emailed us to let us know; ‘We had the chance to show your packagings to some of our clients, some journalists and some trend agency : they all loved it. So much, actually, that they wanted to take one box home. Also, innovation director of McDonald’s France Mr Rouby was very interested in your brand.’ What can we say? those French have sure got alot of taste!

The Role of Brand Personality
We often talk about the role of design in expressing different personalities for a brand. We work in the space every day, but rarely get the opportunity to really explore the expression of multiple brand personalities for the one product type and the difference that makes to its on-shelf persona. To see just how much difference brand personality and brand proposition can make to a product when communicated through brand design, we recently set ourselves the task to develop five unique, packaging designs based upon and identical product – a range of very delicious natural fruit cordials.
