ChocStars – a good recipe for a fmcg brand.

I have stumbled across something amazing. A brand that finally fills a compelling demand for a product that combines the love of chocolate and furry animals. Brainchild of Englishman Richard O’Conner, ChocStars is built on a unique equation of pop stars + pets + chocolate = a gift chocolate good enough to take on the world of confectionary.

Apart from being good quality chocolate, and having space on the back label for a personalised message, what sets this chocolate bar apart is the series of illustrations featured in the packaging. Caricatures have been commissioned to make a selection of pop stars resemble one of our furry friends. The likeness is remarkable, and makes for a perfectly entertaining gift or conversation starter. It’s amazing that something as simple as realising that “People love their chocolate, and people love their pets” can be an incredibly strong foundation for a new brand, product or service.

To mark the arrival of ChocStars to Australian shores, the brand is running a competition to find the Aussie Moggie or Doggie that looks most like its owner. In the spirit of the competition, and with the federal election looming – here are my pick:
