Superbowl Sunday and Big Brands Share Centre Stage

Super Bowl 52 is on today in America and with a captive television audience of over 111.9 million viewers it’s understandable that it has become advertising Mecca to big global brands.

At a cost of more than $5 million USD for a 30 second spot, the Super Bowl is a huge investment to advertisers and due to the sheer size of the audience and their attention to the commercials, the super bowl serves as an excellent vehicle for enhancing consumers awareness of new products.

No other single media vehicle is likely to rival the potential of Super Bowl advertising to reach so many consumers at a single point in time. Whether funny, sad, political, self-referential or downright weird, Super Bowl ads have become a spectacle and tradition in their own right just as much as the infamous half time entertainment.

We thought we’d share with you five of the best Super Bowl ads of all time so you can see what all the fuss is about for yourself and just in case you’re interested in today’s game, The Philadelphia Eagles are taking on The New England Patriots.
