We had the great privilege of handing the amazing team at Tomorrow Man a large cheque for $21,709.32 on Monday morning. All funds were raised last year through our annual charity art exhibition Art with Heart.
Tomorrow Man are an incredible organisation that facilitate experiential workshops for boys and men across Australia to get them talking and asking the question…”What does it mean to be a bloke today? And what do we want it to look like tomorrow?”
With suicide being the largest killer of men aged 15 – 44 (6 Australian men every day, one man every three hours) they believe the old school stereotype of the Australian male is too narrow and its failing our boys and men. The goal of Tomorrow Man is to change this by making significant impacts raising the mental state of boys, men and their families.
They are hoping to use the funds raised through Art with Heart to support the facilitation of workshops to boys and men throughout rural communities, where suicide is prevalent and resources limited to non-existent. “A recent study on mortality has shown that men in regional and remote areas were 1.3 to 2.6 times more likely to end their life by suicide than their urban counterparts” (*National Rural Health Alliance Suicide Factsheet).
I feel humble knowing that the money raised through Art with Heart 2017 will provide Tomorrow Man with the funding to facilitate more workshops to get our men and boys talking with gravity.
Art with Heart is an initiative that we started over 17 years ago now and we are proud to say we have raised over $338, 254.36 for local Melbourne based charities and all of this is made possible by the creativity of our artists, the generosity of our sponsors and the continued good-will of the wider Truly Deeply community.
We are eternally grateful for your support, thank you.
