Stunning New Yorker Cover pays tribute to the Black Lives Matter movement

Stunning New Yorker Cover demonstrates the powerful role design can play in social issues.

Kadir Nelson’s recent cover image titled ‘Say Their Names’ depicts the murder of George Floyd embodying the history of violence inflicted upon black people in America.

The image reminds us of the responsibility design has to play a role in society not just in business. Over the last fifty years design has become a tool predominantly collared for the benefit of commerce, a relatively recent trend over its history. Recent global events have been a graphic reminder of the other and dare I say it, more important role that design gets to play.
